How to make Soy Bread

One of the popular recipe among vegetarian and health enthusiasts is the Soy Bread.  Soy bread recipe uses soy milk and soy flour to replace the milk and part of the bread flour.  Soy Bread is rich in soy protein and they are a good alternative to meat, poultry, and other animal-based products.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has confirmed that foods containing soy protein may help reduce the risk of coronary heart disease. When eaten regularly,  Soy Bread  may help improve vascular function, reduce total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol and inhibit platelet activation to prevent blood clot formation in the arteries of the body.

Soya also contains isoflavins which are associated with the prevention of osteoporosis. Soy inflavones exert their beneficial effects on bones through different mechanisms, including building bone mass, suppressing bone turnover and enhancing calcium absorption.

How to make Soy Bread

Ingredients:

  • 400 g wheat flour
  • 100 g soya meal
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1/2 tbs. sugar
  • 400 ml soy milk
  • 20 g oil

Procedure:

  1. Mix all ingredients.
  2. Cover dough with moist towel and let it rise in a warm place until the volume doubles.
  3. Knead the dough again.
  4. Put dough in oiled forms. The size should be such that the dough will fill them halve.
  5. Let it rise again.
  6. Put in oven when the middle of the dough is reaching the height sides of the form.
  7. Put in a pre-heated oven at 180-200°C for 50 – 60 min.
